Should Australia permanently ban foreign buyers who do not live in Australia from buying existing homes?

Foreign persons are generally barred from buying existing homes until 30 June 2029, with limited exceptions. The current restriction also covers temporary residents living in Australia. A permanent ban here would apply to foreign buyers living overseas, not Australian citizens abroad or purchases of newly built homes.
